Michelle is a Licensed Professional Counselor in North Carolina, Maryland and Virginia. Michelle is also a board-approved counselor supervisor in the state of Virginia. She has a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Marymount University and Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Educational Psychology from George Mason University. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology- also from George Mason University. Michelle has provided clinical mental health services for over 15 years to diverse clinical populations. Michelle has experience with individuals living with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, domestic abuse, intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders, intensive outpatient settings, psychiatric rehabilitation, mobile crisis and correctional settings.
She is also a certified grief counseling specialist and has also received training in EMDR. Her primary approach to therapy integrates solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral techniques. Michelle is passionate about helping people overcome their challenges and reach their full potential. In order for resolutions to be found, Michelle believes that individuals need to identify and reframe problem-immersed thought patterns and be guided toward problem-solving actions.

Karen Edwards is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Commonwealth of Virginia and Maryland. Karen received her MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. Karen’s experience includes working with adults and adolescents struggling with substance use disorders, sexual trauma, and depression. Additionally, she helps clients with stress and anxiety, anger management, and self-esteem concerns. She believes in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. Karen is enthusiastic about helping people live their best life through increased self-awareness/personal growth using CBT, MI, poetry techniques, and CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy). As a Clinician, Karen is genuine, accepting, and empathetic using humor to help with the healing process. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. She is here to support you in that process.
Karen has authored two books, Unequally Yoked, Five Steps to Living Victoriously in the Valley, and a poetry book, Soul Care, for all the Seasons of Life.
